BE YOURSELF AND ENJOY LIFE

A pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won. The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again, and it won again.

The local newspaper read: PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT. The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the pastor not to enter the donkey in another race.

The next day, the local newspaper headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS. This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent.

The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day: NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN. The bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10. The next day the paper read: NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild.

The next day the headlines read: NUN ANNOUNCES...HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE. The bishop was buried the next day....

The moral of the story is Being concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery and even shorten your life.

So be yourself and enjoy life. Only worry about your own ASS not someone else's, You'll be a lot happier and live longer!

JUST FOR FUN ~ PHONE BILL

The phone bill was exceptionally high and the man of the house called a family meeting.

Dad: People this is unacceptable. You have to limit the use of the phone. I do not use this phone, I use the one at the office.

Mum: Same here, I hardly use this home telephone as I use my work telephone

Son: Me too, I never use the home phone. I always use my company mobile

Maid: So what is the problem? We all use our work telephones.

TECHNICAL INDICATOR ~INTRODUCTION TO BOLLINGER BANDS

Most of us have heard about Bollinger Bands as one of the commonly used indicators especially for daily trader. Do we really understand how Bollinger Bands works?

Bollinger Bands is developed by John Bollinger in the early 1980s. Basically, it just a band plotted two standard deviations away from a simple moving average. The purpose of this indicator is to provide a relative definition of high and low. Standard deviation is just a statistical unit of measure of price volatility.

Prices are high at the upper band and low at the lower band. We can say the the closer the prices move to the upper band, the more overbought the market, and the closer the prices move to the lower band, the more oversold the market. But we need to remember that it doesn't mean that we should buy when the prices reach the lower band (oversold) or we should sell when the prices reach the upper band (overbought).

When I use Bollinger Band, I would like to identify the periods of high and low volatility. When the markets become more volatile, the bands widen, and during less volatile periods, the bands contract. The contraction of the bands is often used by technical traders as an early indication that the volatility is about to increase sharply.

STOCK INDICATOR ~ BOLLINGER BAND

JITTERY MARKET... :)

If you noticed on charts of SSE composite index that volume declined during this week which means that stocks are moving up on lower volume compared to during strong sell off. I think buyers are not coming strongly into market yet. 2,700-2,750 support point might break anytime soon. A lot of big boys are waiting for markets to drop further. At least this what I feel.

There are many cheap counters around. VALUE INVESTING??? :)

Let's discuss on what we need to consider in this kinda situation.

ANOThER CORPORATE LESSON :)

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and their manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, "I normally grant three wishes, but as there are three of you, I'll give each of you just one wish."

"Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Poof! She's gone.

"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life by my side." Poof! He's gone.

"OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office afterlunch."

Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

SSE .. REBOUND LIAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, SSE index hit the bottom this morning 2,730 and it rebound strongly to close at 2,870 half day.

Wow amazing right..... what can we expect from now???? .. I believe all china counters listed in SGX will rebound as well..... You will hardly see china counters in negative territory for today...

Let's see...

Ferrochina ($1.36, +8%)
JES ($0.35, +4.5%)
Oceanus ($0.42, +6.3%)
Sunvic ($0.375, +5.6%)
Synear ($0.505, +9.8%)

The most important thing that we need to take note is the volume done today. If the volume is good, it will be the sign of reversal.

I got some problem with posting the chart here, hopefully I can post the chart tonight for all major indices.

HUAT HUAT HUAT ARH!!!!!!!!!!!!

SSE COMPOSITE INDEX ALMOST HIT MAJOR SUPPORT AREA (CLOSED 2,794.75)

As I expected in my last post, they are now in direction to important support areas. I believe once it hits 2,700-2,750 SSE will rebound strongly. It could be just a technical rebound though. We shall see whether this rebound followed by high volume as well.

SB recommendation: sunvic, sinotel & changtian. For commodity counter, first resources is worth speculating too.

KISS ~ KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID :P

CASE 1: When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that the pens wouldn't work at zero gravity (ink won't flow down to the writing surface). To solve this problem, it took them one decade and $12 million. They developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, underwater,in practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range from below freezing to over 300 degrees C.

And what did the Russians do...?? They used a pencil.

CASE 2: One of the most memorable case studies on Japanese management was the case of the empty soapbox, which happened in one of Japan 's biggest cosmetics companies. The company received a complaint that a consumer had bought a soapbox that was empty. Immediately the authorities isolated the problem to the assembly line, which transported all the packaged boxes of soap to the delivery department. For some reason, one soapbox went through the assembly line empty.

Management asked its engineers to solve the problem. The engineers worked hard to devise an X-ray machine with high-resolution monitors manned by two people to watch all the soap boxes that passed through the line to make sure they were not empty. No doubt, they worked hard and they worked fast but they spent a huge amount to do so. But when a rank-and-file employee in a small company was posed with the same problem, he did not get into complications of X-rays, etc., but instead came out with another solution. He bought a strong industrial electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line. He switched the fan on, and as each soapbox passed the fan, it simply blew the empty boxes out of the line.

Moral Of The Story: Always look for simple solutions. Focus on solutions not on problems

CORPORATE LESSON :)

A priest offered a lift to a nun. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her habit apart to reveal a shapely leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand onto her thigh. The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"

The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her thigh again. The nun once again said, "Father, please remember Psalm 129!" The priest apologized. "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak."Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "Go forth and seek further up, you will find glory."

Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

SSE INDEX IS GETTING CLOSER TO 2,750 MARK

Interesting day.... even though Dow managed to rally on Friday, but there was no impact at all on SSE index.

The BIG question is whether the downtrend for SSE already hit the bottom. I believe SSE still has some space to go down and we might see SSE to hit 2,700-2,750 within this week and from there we can start to look a brighter day if it can rebound from with a significant volume.

DISCIPLINE is one of the key ingridient of success.

HUAT HUAT HUAT !!!!!!!!!!!!

SSE COMPOSITE INDEX APPROACHING MAJOR SUPPORT

Wow... it was crazy week for the past two weeks.... most of the China counters heading south...Is it the signal for us to be more bearish on China???

Finally SSE broke 3,000 supports last week and started the second leg of downtrend move. Now they are heading to important support area (2,700-2,750). So, we expect to see more selling will continue till SSE come near 2,750 mark.

REMEMBER, Quick reversal can happen anytime once SSE touch the major support..

NEVER SaY DiE ATtITuDE~ DETERMINATION

In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea. It just could not be done. It was not practical. It had never been done before.

Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He thought about it all the time and he knew deep in his heart that it could be done. He just had to share the dream with someone else. After much discussion and persuasion he managed to convince his son Washington, an up and coming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built.

Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. With great excitement and inspiration, and the headiness of a wild challenge before them, they hired their crew and began to build their dream bridge.

The project started well, but when it was only a few months underway a tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling. Washington was injured and left with a certain amount of brain damage, which resulted in him not being able to walk or talk or even move.

"We told them so."
"Crazy men and their crazy dreams."
"It`s foolish to chase wild visions."

Everyone had a negative comment to make and felt that the project should be scrapped since the Roeblings were the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built. In spite of his handicap Washington was never discouraged and still had a burning desire to complete the bridge and his mind was still as sharp as ever.

He tried to inspire and pass on his enthusiasm to some of his friends, but they were too daunted by the task. As he lay on his bed in his hospital room, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, a gentle breeze blew the flimsy white curtains apart and he was able to see the sky and the tops of the trees outside for just a moment.

It seemed that there was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly an idea hit him. All he could do was move one finger and he decided to make the best use of it. By moving this, he slowly developed a code of communication with his wife.

He touched his wife's arm with that finger, indicating to her that he wanted her to call the engineers again. Then he used the same method of tapping her arm to tell the engineers what to do. It seemed foolish but the project was under way again.

For 13 years Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger on his wife's arm, until the bridge was finally completed. Today the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge stands in all its glory as a tribute to the triumph of one man's indomitable spirit and his determination not to be defeated by circumstances. It is also a tribute to the engineers and their team work, and to their faith in a man who was considered mad by half the world. It stands too as a tangible monument to the love and devotion of his wife who for 13 long years patiently decoded the messages of her husband and told the engineers what to do.

Perhaps this is one of the best examples of a never-say-die attitude that overcomes a terrible physical handicap and achieves an impossible goal.

Often when we face obstacles in our day-to-day life, our hurdles seem very small in comparison to what many others have to face. The Brooklyn Bridge shows us that dreams that seem impossible can be realised with determination and persistence, no matter what the odds are.

THE PiANiST ANd LITtLE gIRL sTORY

A mother wished to encourage her small girl's interest in the piano and so took her a local concert featuring an excellent pianist. In the entrance foyer the mother met an old friend and the two stopped to talk. The little girl was keen to see inside the hall and so wandered off, unnoticed by her mother. The girl's mother became concerned when she entered the hall and could see no sign of her daughter. Staff were notified and an announcement was made asking the audience to look out for the little lost girl.

With the concert due to start, the little girl had still not been found. In preparation for the pianist's entrance, the curtains drew aside, to reveal the little girl sitting at the great piano, focused in concentration, quietly picking out the notes of 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'.

The audience's amusement turned to curiosity when the pianist entered the stage, walked up to the little girl, and said "Keep playing."

The pianist sat down beside her, listened for a few seconds, and whispered some more words of encouragement. He then began quietly to play a bass accompaniment, and then a few bars later reached around the little girl to add more accompaniment. At the end of the impromptu performance the audience applauded loudly as the pianist took the little girl back to her seat to be reunited with her mother. The experience was inspirational for everyone, not least the small girl.

It takes just a few moments to make somebody's day, to help someone with their own personal aims and dreams - especially someone who looks up to you for encouragement and support.

HUGE DIFFERENCE :)

The Boss drives his men, The Leader inspires them.

The Boss depends on authority, The Leader depends on goodwill.

The Boss evokes fear, The Leader radiates love.

The Boss says "I", The Leader says "We".

The Boss shows who is wrong, The Leader shows what is wrong.

The Boss knows how it is done, The Leader knows how to do it.

The Boss demands respect, The Leader commands respect.

So, Which one you wanna be? That's your choice. :)

PROFIT TAKING???

Wow...After UP almost 400 pts, will there be any profit taking? Absolutely...12,700 is just a matter of time..... I believe today Dow might even close high at the end of the day..... Hopefully it can break 12,700 today. :P

The only thing we need to worry is China SSE index. Technically, it doesn't look good at all.... testing 3,000 mark is highly possible before rebound.... today it closed at 3,347. Will it affect China stocks listed in SGX? :)

However, SB still believes there are many undervalue counters around after the recent sell off. Hopefully you all can make use of this opportunity to make $$.

THe BuTTeRFLY StORY ~ STRUGGLE MAKES US STRONG

A man found a cocoon for a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through the little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared stuck.

The man decided to help the butterfly and with a pair of scissors he cut open the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. Something was strange. The butterfly had a swollen body and shrivelled wings. The man watched the butterfly expecting it to take on its correct proportions. But nothing changed.

The butterfly stayed the same. It was never able to fly. In his kindness and haste the man did not realise that the butterfly's struggle to get through the small opening of the cocoon is nature's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight.

Like the sapling which grows strong from being buffeted by the wind, in life we all need to struggle sometimes to make us strong.

When we coach and teach others it is helpful to recognize when people need to do things for themselves.

FINALLY DOW JONES 12,200, REBOUND????????

Amazing....Dow closed at 12,216 as what initially expected. After running few days, Dow need to rest before continue journey to the north. :P

Don't forget monday is the last day of 1st quarter. Hopefully Dow can close high and by the first week of 2nd quarter, Dow will continue heading north and eventually break 12,700. Is it possible? By just looking at our weak sentiment at the moment, maybe it is a little bit difficult but..... NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. :)

WHAT sHOULd WE dO AS tRADeR? :)

SB would like to share about trading. Many people think trading is the easiest way of making money in the stock market. But why there are many market traders end up losing money in the market? The answer is very simple because there are many people don't really understand the rules of trading but they just play it blindly.

If you don't understand it, the market will wipe you out. So, this is what happened. Trading is like a game. If you want to win the game, first of all you have to understand rules of the game.

INTEREST -> UNDERSTAND RULES OF TRADING -> DISCIPLINE -> FIND SUITABLE TRADING METHOD WHICH SUIT YOU -> MAKE $$

Based on SB experience, these are few things that traders need to pay attention.

-The first few hour of the trading day is always driven by emotion which affected by overnight movement in the US market. Most of experience trader will simply watch the market for the first half day of trading and wait for subsequent trading breakout.

-Understand whether market is in uptrend/downtrend or consolidating phase. We need to understand trend. REMEMBER, when you make mistake, admit it. There is time for you to cut your loss. It's painful though. :)

- Ride with the profit, Cut your loss. Most of people prefer to ride with loss and cut their profit. As a trader, we should not book profits too early in order to enjoy the winning feeling.

-Keep yourself up to date to the latest news. Small investment will lead you to huge profits. :)

LET's wAIT FOR tHE OppORTUNitY TO EnTER!!!!!!!!!

After opening low earlier in the day, STI managed to close almost 1% higher. Is it the sign of window-dressing? :)

Time will tell us. Once again, FTSE/ST China went up almost 5% to close at 452.67 today even though Shanghai Index closed 5% lower today. Strange, right?

So, do we need to go shopping now as market looks quite cheap? Yes, but it would be better for us to wait until the consolidation is over before riding with the bull.

I believe if Dow Jones can break 12,700, it will be one of the signals that the worst is over. But before that we will see dow to consolidate to 12,220 - 12,300. Let's see how long does it take to break that point. Next month??? Hopefully. my prediction is right.

ObSTAcle = OpPORtuNITY

In ancient times, a king had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it.

Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the big stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. On approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road.

After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. As the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many others never understand.

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve one's condition.

STI PAUSES AFTER TWO DAYS BIG RALLY :)

REVERSAL -> CONSOLIDATE -> UPTREND

As expected, after 2 days big rally (almost 200 pts) market starts to consolidate. We can see some profit taking here and there. The good thing is market consolidating with low volume about 1,466 million shares compared to yesterday which hit 2,325 million shares.

Let's see whether we can start the 2nd quarter with BIG BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think we can see the buyers start to come in again next week to welcome 2nd quarter.

The Chihuahua and Leopard ~ CREATIVE THINKING AND ACT DECISIVELY

A lady takes her pet chihuahua with her on a safari holiday. Wandering too far one day the chihuahua gets lost in the bush, and soon encounters a very hungry looking leopard. The chihuahua realises he's in trouble, but, noticing some fresh bones on the ground, he settles down to chew on them, with his back to the big cat. As the leopard is about to leap, the chihuahua smacks his lips and exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here."

The leopard stops mid-stride, and slinks away into the trees.
"Phew," says the leopard, "that was close - that evil little dog nearly had me."

A monkey nearby sees everything and thinks he'll win a favour by putting the stupid leopard straight. The chihuahua sees the monkey go after the leopard, and guesses he might be up to no good.

When the leopard hears the monkey's story he feels angry at being made a fool, and offers the monkey a ride back to see him exact his revenge.

The little dog sees them approaching and fears the worse.
Thinking quickly, the little dog turns his back, pretends not to notice them, and when the pair are within earshot says aloud, "Now where's that monkey got to? I sent him ages ago to bring me another leopard..."

ASIAN MARKET RALLY~ REVERSAL???

Wow amazing.... STI rose to 3000.19 on volume 2,325.7 million shares worth almost $2.6 billion.

It's interesting to see most of STI china stocks rebound while SSE index still forming the base before it rebounds. FTSE ST China index rose 20% to 439.16 in just 2 days. It seems the downtrend is reaching a bottom with some evidence.

-Volume was low when it declined and it was high (approximately 70% higher) when it rose and finally hit 3,000 again today. :)
-The 2nd quarter is coming and maybe it's the opportunity for fund managers to window-dress their portfolio now. Furthermore, valuation is much cheaper.
-Fed had cut rate form 5.25% to 2.25% to save the US financial institutions form going default because of the loss form sub-prime mortgages. It will take 6 months or even 9 months for the effect of a rate cut to filter into economy and to kick start the process.

So what should we do now? Hopefully, this is the real reversal sign so that we can go shopping and HUAT TUA TUA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Budha and The Abuse ~ IT'S YOUR CHOICE ~

A tale is told about the Buddha, Gautama (563-483BC), the Indian prince and spiritual leader whose teachings founded Buddhism. This short story illustrates that every one of us has the choice whether or not to take personal offence from another person's behaviour.

It is said that on an occasion when the Buddha was teaching a group of people, he found himself on the receiving end of a fierce outburst of abuse from a bystander, who was for some reason very angry.

The Buddha listened patiently while the stranger vented his rage, and then the Buddha said to the group and to the stranger, "If someone gives a gift to another person, who then chooses to decline it, tell me, who would then own the gift? The giver or the person who refuses to accept the gift?"

"The giver," said the group after a little thought. "Any fool can see that," added the angry stranger.

"Then it follows, does it not," said the Buddha, "Whenever a person tries to abuse us, or to unload their anger on us, we can each choose to decline or to accept the abuse; whether to make it ours or not. By our personal response to the abuse from another, we can choose who owns and keeps the bad feelings."

THE LION AND THE RAT

One day a small rat surfaced from his nest to find himself between the paws of a huge sleeping lion, which immediately awoke and seized the rat. The rat pleaded with the fierce beast to be set free, and the lion, being very noble and wise, and in no need of such small prey, agreed to let the relieved rat go on his way.

Some days later in the same part of the forest, a hunter had laid a trap for the lion, and it duly caught him, so that the lion was trussed up in a strong net, helpless, with nothing to do than wait for the hunter to return.

But it was the rat who came along next, and seeing the lion in need of help, promptly set about biting and gnawing through the net, which soon began to unravel, setting the great lion free.

“All good deeds are important at whatever level they are performed.”

There was a man who made a living selling balloons at a fair. He had all colours of balloons, including red, yellow, blue, and green.

Whenever business was slow, he would release a helium-filled balloon into the air and when the children saw it go up, they all wanted to buy one. They would come up to him, buy a balloon, and his sales would go up again.

He continued this process all day. One day, he felt someone tugging at his jacket. He turned around and saw a little boy who asked, "If you release a black balloon, would that also fly?"

Moved by the boy's concern, the man replied with empathy, "Son, it is NOT the colour of the balloon, it is what is inside that makes it go up."

LIVe Ur LIfE tO tHE fULLeST

A 10-year-old boy decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident. The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training the master had taught him only one move. "Sensei," the boy finally said, "Shouldn't I be learning more moves?" "This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you'll ever need to know," the sensei replied. Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.

Several months later, the sensei took the boy to his first tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match. Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals.

This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced.. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about to stop the match when the sensei intervened. "No," the sensei insisted, "Let him continue." Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made a critical mistake: he dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him.

The boy had won the match and the tournament. He was the champion. On the way home, the boy and sensei reviewed everymove in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind.

"Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?" "You won for two reasons," the sensei answered. "First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm."

The boy's biggest weakness had become his biggest strength."Sometimes we feel that we have certain weaknesses and we blame god, the circumstances and our self for it but we never know that our weakness can become our strength one day.

Each of us is special and important, so never think you have any weakness, never think of pride or pain, just live your life to its fullest and extract the best out of it!"

DOW FELL AGAIN, ASIAN MARKET???

ISM services report showed a big slowdown in the services sector of the economy and it showed business activity falling in January for the first time in five years. Market sentiments was really negative. Is it another hint of a recession?

DOW - 370.03 NASDAQ -73.28 S&P -44.18

Hopefully, DOW will not close below 12,100 by end of the week or else technically it looks pretty bad and more selling will come. Scary............................

Will ASIAN Market open lower on Wall street's fall? Obviously. NIKKEI -368 and it might even drop further and test 13,000.

For STI, I just hope it won't go down and close below 2,960 level. Today is just half day trading, hopefully the Bull can still fight with the Bear. :)

CHART PATTERNS ~ HEAD & SHOULDERS REVERSAL PATTERN

PART 2

DOW JONES WEEKLY CHART

What chart pattern is seen from this chart? Is it a good or bad sign? Most of us have been talking about technical analysis and chart patterns every day but not many understand it.
Basically the chart above is a head and shoulder reversal pattern forms after an uptrend. This pattern is one of the most common reversal patterns Before we discuss further on the above chart, let's learn about HEAD & SHOULDERS REVERSAL PATTERN.

FOR YOUR LAUGH ~ LITTLE JOHNNY

Little Johnny's next door neighbour had a baby. Unfortunately, the little baby was born with no ears. When they arrived home from the hospital, the parents invited Little Johnny's family to come over and see their new baby.

Little Johnny's parents were very afraid their son would have a wise crack to say about the baby. So, Little Johnny's dad had a long talk with Little Johnny before going to the neighbours. He said, "Now, son...that poor baby was born without any ears. I want you to be on your best behaviour and not say one word about his ears, or I'm really going to spank your butt when we get back home." "I promise not to mention his ears at all," said Little Johnny.

At the neighbour's home, Little Johnny leaned over the crib and touched the baby's hand. He looked at it's mother and said, "Oh, what a beautiful little baby!" The mother, who had braced herself for Johnny's comment, was pleasantly surprised and said, "Thank you very much, Little Johnny."

He then said, "This baby has perfect little hands and perfect little feet. Why, just look at his pretty little eyes! Did his doctor say he can see good? The mother a bit bewildered, hesitantly replies "Why, yes... his doctor said he has 20/20 vision, why do you ask?"

Little Johnny said, "Well, it's a good thing, cause he'd be f**ked if he needed to wear glasses"

WARREN BUFFET MBA LECTURE

STOCK WATCH ~ HLN TECH (CURRENT PRICE $0.340)

BACKGROUND

HLN Tech offers a wide range of industry solutions covering precision rubber components, polymeric die-cutting, precision machined and turned parts, name-plates and aluminium parts. The group organizes its business structure into three business unites to serve its customers, which are primarily located in Southeast and North Asia.

NAV : $0.202
Current price: $0.340

HLN Tech upgraded to SGX mainboard on 22 Jan 2008.

I believe some of you remember when HLN Tech price suddenly surged up to $0.495 on 12 Dec 2007 (it even hit $0.58 on 28 Dec 2007). After closing, there was a SGX query regarding trading activity. You can see their response from http://www.sgx.com/ which basically mentioned that they have been approached by a party expressing verbal interest in the company.

They also requested a trading halt on 13 Dec 2007. They made announcement that the company is still in discussions with a third party in connection with a potential acquisition of the entire issued ordinary share capital of the company. :) Interesting right?

Then what happened next? The Board of Directors made a clarification regarding an article "HLN in talks with potential buyer" published in The Edge Singapore, which the article commented that there is a buyout offer on the table but the CEO was not interested to sell. HLN again emphasized that there are only preliminary discussions with the third party. What does it mean? Is buyout offer still possible?

* HLN targets to be China's largest alumunium service center by 2010.
* HLN announce that their 3rd Q sales set to soar with S$20m orders (exceeded 80% of FY2006 revenue)
* There was a placement at $0.55, Blackhorse Asset Management, JL Capital and Schroder Investment were some of the subscribers. (Current price $0.34 is about 40% discount)
* HLN expected to hit $50m revenue for FY2007. By saying that, they were confident even though HY2007 revenue was just $22.4m. Can they achieve that?

Considering all the factors above, do you think this company is worth buying?

STEADY BULL RECOMMENDATION

Fundamentally, it's not really cheap as currently there are so many fundamentally good stocks with an attractive price stocks around. Even though they can achieve $50m revenue for FY2007, the PE is still around 7x.

The only thing make this HLN interesting is the discussions with third party. When the discussion end? Will there be a buyout offer? So, can we speculate on this now?

SB recommends to BUY if there is any surge in price and volume which mean it breaks $0.355 with a volume at least 2m. HUAT ARH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GONG XI FA CAI 2008

LEARNING CORNER

SOFT LANDING

Do you all understand the reason behind FED increased interest rate since Oct 2004 until Jul 2006? One of the reason is the economy was growing at strong rate and FED try to make a soft landing by raising interest rate to slow the economy down and prevent it fall into recession and also avoid a high inflation. This term is called SOFT LANDING.

Mr. Greenspan was known as a master at the soft landing.

How about the time when FED keep cutting the rate since mid of 2007? Is it the sign of recession? :)

STOCK RECOMMENDATION ~ GEMSTV

BACKGROUND

GemsTV Holdings Limited (“GemsTV”) specializes in manufacturing genuine colored gemstone jewelry in exclusive handcrafted designs which are sold directly to customers through a "reverse auction'' system via television home shopping and the Internet. GemsTV eliminates the need for multiple intermediaries by vertically integrating the traditional gemstone and jewelry supply chain.

IPO price : $1.08
No. of Shares: 1,030,468 m
NAV: SGD $0.228
Current Price: SGD $0.275

Will weak consumer spending in US affect the sales revenue of GemsTV? The thing that I like about GemsTV is this company has a debt free balance sheet and strong net cash.

Technical analysis

Let's have a look on high volume when the price surged up indicated by a white candle from the chart above. On 5th Dec 2007, the price went up from $0.44 to $0.55 with such a high volume of 87.7 m. Later on, the price consolidated for more than a month to $0.25 with a low volume. And then on 24th Jan 2008, we can see quite good volume (7.13 m) noted. Is it a good sign? Is it a good time for you to enter?

Let's see on the trend line. It's obviously a downtrend line. We need to break this line before the stock can reverse its direction. Looking at the chart, it seems that we need to break at $0.310 with a high volume.

RSI and stochastic indicators are showing sign of reversal within the oversold region. :)

RECOMMENDATION

If you are a value investor, I believe now is a good time for you to accumulate the stock. The price is very cheap ($0.275) considering the company has NAV $0.228 and strong net cash.
If you are a trader, we need to see the stock break at $0.310 with a high volume. Once this point broken, we can set a target price at $0.415. WOw more than 50% upside from the current price.

Steady Bull recommends to BUY this stock at $0.275 with a target price $0.415 as downside risk is limited to NAV at $0.228.

CHANGe YOuR LIFE

Discover the 90/10 Principle. It will change your life (at least the way u react to situations)

What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react.

What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane being late in arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%.

How? By your REACTION. You cannot control a red light, but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you; YOU can control how you react.

Let's use an example. You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened. What happens next will be determined by how you react. You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit. After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 (traffic fine) away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, Because of how you reacted in the morning.

Why did you have a bad day?
A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?

The answer is D.

You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what could have and should have happened. Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "It's ok honey, you just need to be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You and your spouse kiss before you go to work. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having.

Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different. Why? Because of how you REACTED. You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction. Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge.

Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You don't have to let the negative comment affect you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic?
Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel?
Does your blood pressure rocket?
Do you try and bump them? WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work?
Why let the cars ruin your drive?

Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it. You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job. The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out your frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passengers. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse.

Now you know the 90-10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90-10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle. The result? Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartaches. There never seem to be a success in life. Bad days follow bad days. Terrible things seem to be constantly happening. There is constant stress, lack of joy, and broken relationships. Worry consumes time. Anger breaks friendships and life seems dreary and is not enjoyed to the fullest. Friends are lost. Life is a bore and often seems cruel.

Does this describe you? If so, do not be discouraged. You can be different! Understand and apply the 90/10 principle. It will change your life.

JObLeSS ClaIMS RISe SHARPLY, DOw TONiTE???

Future for DOW is pointing a lower open (Dow future now -134)as sentiment was badly hurt by a sharp rise in jobless claims from 69,000 to 375,000. As a contrary, jobless rate for Q4 in Singapore fell to 1.6%. It seems very hard for US to avoid recession even though FED has tried their best to cut the rate sharply by 1.25%. What else can US do to avoid another turmoil in the market???? Corporate tax rate??? Let's think about it. :)

FED SLaShED ITs kEy INtEREST RaTEs AgAIN BY 0.50%

As expected, FED cut its rates again ~ FED funds rate to 3% and Discount rate to 3.5%. Stock rallied as soon as FED announced they cut its rates but the rally was short lived.

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY???? Is it because wall streets has rallied for the past 2 days and price already factor in the rate cuts? Or maybe jobless rate (will be announced on Friday)will give us a hint that recession is on sight????

Let see what will happen to ASIAN market today. Do you think market will cheer the rate cut?? It's interesting to see. Will ASIAN market go upwards even though the closing for DOW was negative (-37.47)???

In my opinion, we will see some relieve rally today. HUAT ARH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LEARNING CORNER ~ INDEX WARRANT ~ HSI

Do you all know about warrants? I believe most of us have heard about warrant. Some of you might say that warrant is very risky, better for you to stay away before u get burnt. Do you agree? Yes, if you don't understand how it works and know the rules of the game.

Anyway, let's learn together here. It is easier for us to learn from example rather than description, right? We take Hang Seng index as an example.

HSI close up 238.19 at 24,291.80

HSI24800 MBL CW 080228 ($0.595)
HSI27600 MBL CW 080228 ($0.240)

HSI25000 MBL PW 080228 ($0.800)
HSI24000 SGA PW 080328 ($0.525)

I will do a simulation trading by using the above warrants and along the way we can discuss what will affect the warrants movement and how we can utilize warrants to optimize our profit.

A Chinese walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. He tells the loan officer that he is going to Taiwan on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000.

The bank officer tells him that the bank will need some form of security for the loan, so the Chinese hands over the keys to a new Ferrari parked on the street in front of the bank. He produces the title and everything checks out. The loan officer agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. The bank's president and it's officers all enjoy a good laugh at the Chinese for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral against a $5,000 loan.

An employee of the bank then drives the Ferrari into the bank's underground garage and parks it there. Two weeks later, the Chinese returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41. The loan officer says, "Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled.

While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multi-millionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?" The Chinese replies: "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return?"

US MARKeT DIRECtION

The main focus for the week will be the FED decision tomorrow. Nobody could predict what will be the outcome for the FED rate decision. Shall we bet on the rate cut tomorrow? However, I believe whatever the outcome is, it will not really determine the market direction.

What is the thing that investor's don't like most? Uncertainty, it makes all investors to stay aside and wait until the direction clear.

The BIG question for now is whether US economy can avoid a recession. Initial estimate of 4Q GDP (Wednesday) and jobless rate report (Friday) will provide us a hint to this question.

Let see how Dow performs tonight. HUAT ARH!!!!!!!!!!

FrEsH FiSH

The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. But the waters close to Japan have not held many fish for decades. So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went further than ever. The further the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring in the fish.

If the return trip took more than a few days, the fish were not fresh. The Japanese did not like the taste. To solve this problem, fishing companies installed freezers on their boats. They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea. Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer.
However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen and they did not like frozen fish. The frozen fish brought a lower price. So fishing companies installed fish tanks.

They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks. After a little thrashing around, the fish stopped moving. They were tired and dull, but alive. Unfortunately, the Japanese could still taste the difference. Because the fish did not move for days, they lost their fresh-fish taste. The Japanese preferred the lively taste of fresh fish, not sluggish fish.

So how did Japanese fishing companies solve this problem? How do they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan? If you were consulting the fish industry, what would you recommend? As soon as you reach your goals, such as finding a wonderful mate, starting a successful company, paying off your debts or whatever, you might lose your passion. You don't need to work so hard so you relax. You experience the same problem as lottery winners who waste their money, wealthy heirs who never grow up and bored homemakers who get addicted to prescription drugs.

Like the Japanese fish problem, the best solution is simple. It was observed by L. Ron Hubbard in the early 1950's. "Man thrives, oddly enough, only in the presence of a challenging environment."- L. Ron Hubbard

The Benefits of a Challenge: The more intelligent, persistent and competent you are, the more you enjoy a good problem. If your challenges are the correct size, and if you are steadily conquering those challenges, you are happy. You think of your challenges and get energized. You are excited to try new solutions. You have fun. You are alive!

How Japanese Fish Stay Fresh: To keep the fish tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish in the tanks. But now they add a small shark to each tank. The shark eats a few fish, but most of the fish arrive in a very lively state. The fish are challenged.

Recommendations: Instead of avoiding challenges, jump into them. Beat the heck out of them. Enjoy the game. If your challenges are too large or too numerous, do not give up. Failing makes you tired. Instead, reorganize. Find more determination, more knowledge, more help.

If you have met your goals, set some bigger goals. Once you meet your personal or family needs, move onto goals for your group, the society, even mankind. Don't create success and lie in it. You have resources, skills and abilities to make a difference."

So, put a shark in your tank and see how far you can really go!

STOCK RECOMMENDATION

SINOTEL TECHNOLOGIES LTD. (current price SGD 26.5 cents)

BACKGROUND

Sinotel is a wireless connectivity innovator company that provides a range of customised wireless telecommunication applications and solutions in China. Its main businesses are:
wireless network solutions, distribution solutions and mobile entertainment enabling solutions

MAJOR CUSTOMERS

China Unicom, China Mobile and China Netcom

KEY FINANCIAL DATA

Net profit ~ RMB 65.5 million (9m FY2007), surges 93.5% compared to 9m FY2006. It even exceeds full year 2006 profit (RMB 56.1 million).Overall gross profit margin ~ increased to 46.4% (was 37.3%)

EPS for 9m 2007 ~ RMB 23.7 cents (SGD .048). The EPS for 3rd quarter 2007 was RMB 9.7 cents. Assuming for the 4q of 2007, Sinotel can perform as good as last quarter 2006, which means the EPS for 4q2007 will be RMB 7.9 cents, the total EPS for 2007 will be RMB 31.6 cents (SGD . 064).

P/E for 9m 2007 ~ merely 5.5 x . Looking at the assumption above, FY2007 P/E will be just 4.1x.

Total post invitation shares ~ 280 million

Price ~ SGD 26.5 cents

IPO Price ~ SGD 51.0 cents (12 Nov 2007)

Results announcement for 3q2007 ~ 12 Dec 2007

52 Weeks price range ~ SGD . 210 (22 Jan 2008) - SGD.755 (14 Nov 2007)

Looking at the high growth of telecommunication industry in China, I believe Sinotel's business will enjoy the ride on China's booming mobile telecommunication industry even though there is still a risk that it might be affected by the slowing US economy.

We need to note that the launch of 3G networks (might be before olympic games) in China will create a new opportunities for SINOTEL as the telcom providers need to invest in the relevant 3G telecommunication networks, infrastructure and related services.

Last but not least, don't forget the coming olympic games 2008. Do you think Beijing want to lose their face when tourists visiting during the games will not be able to use their 3G handset? I don't think so!!!!

Fundamentally, SINOTEL's valuation is very attractive with a low P/E in such a high growth telecommunication industry in China. There is no way for me to do a technical analysis on SINOTEL at the moment as the price keep dropping since it was listed on 12 November 2007. There was no significant selling volume noted when the price dropped from SGD .42 to the lowest SGD .21.

STEADY BULL'S RECOMMENDATION:
BUY WITH TP SGD .52 (FY2007 P/E 8X) ~ 96% UPSIDE POTENTIAL FROM THE CURRENT PRICE …HUAT ARH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUtTeRfLY ~ MOTIVATIONAL STORY

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.

Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly. What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes STRUGGLES are exactly what we need in our lives. If God allowed us to go through our lives without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. We could never fly!

STI HISTORICAL CHART AFTER FED CUT DISCOUNT RATES

What can we learn from history? :)

STI, HSI,NIKKEI RALLy aS eXPeCTeD; CaN US aVOID reCESSION?

As discussed in my earlier post, Asian market will rally after Mr. Ben cut rates .75%. The rally was extended until end of the week and it made FTSE ST index rose to 3159.59. However, there are many analysts said that the decision to cut rate has come a bit late. Remember "Better Late than Never". $150 billion stimulus package is also on the way and hopefully it can boost consumer confidence.

After two day rally, Dow dropped 171.44 pts on Friday as Investors locked in profit. The two day FED meeting (29-30 January 2008) will be the focus for next week. I believe people hope FED will cut rate by another 25 basis point. Will FED do it again to please investor? I don't think this is important as long as FED can assure that US can avoid recession, that would be sufficient. :)

I love the idea that Bush may call for more measures to ease credit crunch and cut corporate tax rates. They need to boost the slowing economy in order to avoid recession.

FTSE ST INDEX NExT WeEk???

We can expect the index will open lower due to US market dropped on Friday and slowly but sure I believe market will rebound and possible to close higher. As mentioned earlier, the main focus for next week is 2 day FED meeting. Therefore, a range trading for FTSE ST index (3,000-3,200) is expected. It's very VOLATILE, right???? :)

I will also post STEADYBULLL stocks recommendation with detail analysis soon.

EVeRYThInG HaPPENs FOR tHE rEAsON :)

In one of little kingdoms of long ago there lived a King who (like most of them) was fond of hunting in wild places. His Chief Advisor was a very intelligent man, and also a very optimistic one. He was famous for seeing the rosy side of things. In fact, so strong was his habit of finding good in everything that at times this annoyed his ruler.

One day the King went hunting and had a little accident. He shot an arrow at his own foot and was injured. He asked the advisor what he thought about the accident, to which the advisor replied, “Everything happens for the good”. This time the King was really upset and ordered for his advisor to be put in prison. The King asked his advisor, “Now, what do you think?” The advisor again replied, “Everything happens for the good”. So the advisor remained in prison.

The King later went on a hunting trip, this time without the advisor. The King was then captured by some cannibals. He was taken to the cannibals' camp where he was to be the evening meal for the cannibals. Before putting him into the cooking pot he was thoroughly inspected. The cannibals saw the wound on the King’s foot and decided to throw him back into the jungle. According to the cannibals' tradition, they would not eat anything that was imperfect. As a result the King was spared. The King suddenly realized what his advisor said was true. The advisor also escaped death because had he not been in prison, he would have followed the King on the hunting trip, and would have ended up in the cooking pot.

Mr. Ben cut rates finally, so WHAT IS NEXT?

Wow... finally Mr. Ben slashed both rates by 75 basis point. Federal funds rate was lowered from 4.2% to 3.5%. Discount rate for the banks was lowered to 4% (was 4.75%).

Remember what happened when FED cut discount rates on 17th Aug 2007??? Before rate cut, DOW Jones index fell down from 14,000 marks (19th July 2007) to 12,500 (intraday low on 16th Aug 2007). Once FED announced discount rate cut by .50%, DOW started to turn the direction upwards which hit 14,160 on 9th Oct 2007.

Are we expecting the same things again happen after FED cut both rates by .75%? Of course, FED hope to see some stability in the market. Nobody can control the markets which are mostly being driven by emotion at the moment. Hangseng Index dropped 2,000 points today, isn't it crazy? However, I believe Mr. Ben moved to cut both rates was the best option that will bring some relief to the market. Another good thing coming up is the $140 billion to $ 150 billion economic stimulus package. Hopefully, it will kick the bear out and let the bull lead the train.

Do you think US will not try their best to avoid a recession? I don't think so especially now they are preparing for the coming election on 4th November 2008. To avoid a recession, we need something more than keep cutting interest rate. Mr. Paulse seems very confident that US can avoid a recession. Let see how he gonna do it. :)
